BG Tanzania is inviting applications for postgraduate scholarship for 2014/15 September intake. Scholarship is available for Tanzanian graduates to complete their postgraduate education with focus on specific geoscience and engineering courses in the UK and access future employment opportunities in the energy and related sectors. The awards are comprehensive,
covering academic tuition fees and related administrative expenses, registration fees, field work costs, living expenses, a return airfare, pastoral care while in the UK and support with visa applications. Application should be submitted till 30th April 2014.
Study Subject (s): Scholarship is awarded for geoscience and engineering courses. The scheme covers following courses: MSc Petroleum Engineering, Petroleum Geophysics, Petroleum Geoscience, Concrete Structures, Structural Steel Design, Environmental Engineering, Engineering Geology, Systems Engineering & Innovation, Transport, Soil Mechanics, Analogue and Digital Integrated Circuit Design, Control Systems, Sustainable Energy Futures, Advanced Materials Science and Engineering and Advanced Chemical Engineering with Process System Engineering at Imperial College London, MSc Oil and Gas Engineering, Safety & Reliability Engineering for Oil and Gas, Subsea Engineering, Geographical Information Systems, Oil and Gas Computing, Integrated Petroleum Geoscience and Oil & Gas Chemistry at Aberdeen University and MSc Oil & Gas Engineering, Drilling & Well Engineering, Petroleum Production Engineering and IT for the Oil & Gas Industry at Robert Gordon University.

Eligibility: Tanzanian nationals, who are able to meet the relevant course entry requirements, set by the participating universities. Applicants are advised to consult the respective university and course websites. Minimum requirements include possessing a relevant graduate degree in geoscience, engineering or a related subject area and being able to demonstrate an adequate standard of English language comprehension.

Scholarship Description: The scheme offers Tanzanian graduates the opportunity to pursue postgraduate education at universities in the UK with focus on specific geoscience and engineering courses that are particularly relevant for Tanzania’s emerging natural gas and related sectors. Covering a range of 28 taught courses at three UK universities, the scheme is funded by BG Tanzania and administered by the British Council, Tanzania.

What does it cover? The awards are comprehensive, covering academic tuition fees and related administrative expenses, registration fees, field work costs, living expenses, a return airfare, pastoral care while in the UK, and support with visa applications. The emerging natural gas sector will offer attractive employment opportunities for Tanzanian citizens with the relevant technical skills. Upon successful completion of one of the courses included in the scheme, beneficiaries have the potential to qualify for participation in the BG Group’s International Graduate Programme. Beneficiaries will also be well equipped to access employment opportunities with other energy companies and companies involved in the energy sector’s supply chain.

-If you have already applied and received an offer for a place from one of the Universities and for one of the courses listed above, please download the form. Conditional offers are acceptable if the outstanding condition is funding.
If you are interested and eligible to apply to the Scheme but have not yet submitted an application to one of the universities and for one of the courses listed above, please contact the British Council. The British Council will provide reasonable support to eligible candidates to submit a university application.
Upon receipt of an offer for a place on a relevant course, you can then apply to the scheme. Again, conditional offers are acceptable if the outstanding condition is funding.
